Harriet Miers Withdraws

Harriet Miers pulled herself out of the running to for a seat on the Supreme Court. Her withdrawal makes many of us conservatives very happy. It gives the president a second chance to pick someone more deserving of the position. Hopefully the President will use this opportunity to pick someone that has a much better background in the courts and has the much more experience on the bench. Miss Miers deserves our respect in having the common sense to pull herself out of an obvious losing battle. Now Mr. President its time to make some intelligent and courageous decisions and pick someone that deserves to be on the Supreme Court.

I’m stuck in Kansas City today. Someone screwed up on setting appointment and now I’m stuck here until tomorrow morning. They are going to have to pay me layover to sit on this load and I plan on raising a little hell when I get to the yard tomorrow. I do my job and I expect others to do theirs. These are the kinds of mistakes that can put you out of business if it happens very often.

More record profits for the oil companies reported today, you all know my opinion on this issue. I am a believer in the free market system but oil companies are too much like monopolies and they are also not operating their business in a responsible manner. When your product fuels the economy that your profits run on then you should be more careful of how your actions affect that economy. If truckers all went on strike then the government would have the National Guard out here trying to move freight and arrest us because we would severely affect the economy. The oil companies are doing even more damage than we could but since they are screwing us slowly, one tank at a time, they are getting away with it. Three words Windfall Profits Tax. We could pay down a big chunk of the deficit with some of the profits these guys are raking in.
