Rosa Parks Dies
Rosa Parks died in her sleep early on Monday. Rosa Parks refusal to give up her seat on a bus to a white man played a pivotal part in the Civil Rights movement. Mrs. Parks case found its way in the Supreme Court where it overturned “Jim Crow” separate but equal laws in the South. Thus setting the stage for integration and the Civil Rights Movement.
Mrs. Parks actions to stand up for her civil rights should remind us of the importance of who we choose for the Supreme Court. It shows us that simple actions can have a profound affect on history. What will be the next small action that may come before the highest court and change how we treat each other. Who will be on that court, hopefully someone with the courage and knowledge that the Court that heard Mrs. Parks case had.
